Andres founded Sentio in 2003. He has extensive experience in searching, managing and exiting investments, corporate finance advisory services, and corporate experience in various industries.

Andres is responsible for the overall company performance and the execution of advisory assignments. He focuses on assisting clients with exits, strategic advisory services, preparing valuations, acquisitions and mergers, as well as various financing arrangements. Andres has lead and completed projects from the following sectors: medical equipment sales and after-sales service (Semetron AS), production and installation of granite and marble worktops (Liidukivi OÜ), manufacturing of large steel structures and equipment for the offshore oil and gas industry (E-Profiil AS), metal processing (AS Temeko), wooden housing (AS Ritsu), bed and mattress manufacturing (AS Tarmel Furniture), architectural company (OÜ Novel), agriculture, and real estate, among others.

Prior to this, Andres had 11-years of experience with Baltics Small Equity Fund (BSEF). BSEF, operational from 1997-2008, was a private equity fund making equity investments into companies located in the Baltic States. The fund management company SEAF established a $10.7 million SME equity fund to invest in early stage small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. With BSEF, Andres was involved in:

Investment Closing Process. Responsible for all aspects of the new investment process, from sourcing new investments through deal closing. Closed five deals: in the printing and publishing, trailer-production, tempered glass production, ventilation equipment production, and medical device distribution industries.

Monitoring Investments. Responsible for portfolio companies’ business development, technical assistance, meetings (incl. Board participation), analysis, negotiations (incl. with clients and suppliers) and additional fundraising;

Exiting investments. Negotiated and completed seven exits of the Fund’s investments in companies

In most cases, Andres managed the entire deal process from initial search for potential buyers until exiting. 

Prior to joining BSEF, Andres worked in various management and marketing positions in the food production, pharmaceutical distribution and printing industries.

Education

Andres holds a M.A. (magister atrium) Degree in Economics from the University of Tartu, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (2001). Prior to this, he graduated Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia: Graduate Certificate in Business Administration (1995).

Andres has also passed the following courses: Mediterranean Institute of Management, Nicosia, Cyprus: Training Program on General Management (for SMEs, 2002), and University College Cork, Ireland: A TEMPUS Business Program (1993).

Other Commitments

Enterprise Estonia: member of advisory board for technology investments into manufacturing companies (2008-2013).

Evaluation committee member of the business plan competition “Brainhunt” (Ajujaht”) 2008-2010. The purpose of the competition is to find, recognise and present young peoples’ ideas to the public, motivate entrepreneurial activity, and foster the execution of innovative, scientific and value-added ideas.
